Issue No. 3 – July 15
At a time when the questions before us have become greater than the available answers, and when the word freedom has evolved from merely a political position into a profound moral responsibility, the Editorial Board of Azadiya Me is pleased to announce the publication of its third issue on July 15, now available to readers.
This issue presents a new intellectual and political dossier that seeks to analyze the challenges of the current stage through a critical perspective, a scholarly methodology, and a firm belief that the future is not built upon slogans, but upon thought and reflection; not upon temporary emotions, but through courageous criticism and a genuine will for renewal.
Since its establishment, Azadiya Me has never been merely a newspaper. It has been an intellectual project dedicated to promoting a culture of dialogue, raising public awareness, and building bridges between knowledge and lived reality, as well as between understanding history and imagining the future. The newspaper believes that journalism is not simply the transmission of events, but an intellectual endeavor and an enlightening mission. A truthful word can open doors that conflict and division are unable to unlock.
Leading this issue is the editorial:
“The Kurdish Political Movement in Syria: Between the Failure of Experience and the Imperatives of Renewal”
This editorial is not written to pass judgment or settle accounts with the past. Rather, it begins from the profound conviction that nations can only move forward when they have the courage to critically evaluate their own experiences and rethink them. Responsible criticism is not a condemnation of history; it is an expression of respect for it, because it opens the way toward a more mature and effective future.
The editorial evaluates the trajectory of the Kurdish political movement in Syria, acknowledging the immense sacrifices it has made and the exceptional conditions under which it has operated—conditions shaped by decades of authoritarian rule, exclusion, and marginalization. At the same time, it raises essential questions: What have been the political outcomes of this experience? And has the movement been able to adapt itself to the profound transformations that Syria and the wider region have witnessed in recent years?
The article also emphasizes the necessity of renewing political culture, building stronger institutions, preparing a new generation of competent and visionary young leaders, overcoming outdated divisions, and developing a political project that combines the legitimate national rights of the Kurdish people with active participation in building a modern, democratic Syrian state founded upon equal citizenship, the rule of law, meaningful decentralization, and genuine partnership among all components of society.
This issue is not limited to this central dossier. It also includes a wide range of studies, articles, and intellectual, political, and cultural analyses. These contributions seek to understand the transformations taking place across our region through in-depth analysis, objective criticism, and respect for intellectual and political diversity—far removed from populist rhetoric and ideological polarization.
Azadiya Me believes that intellectual journalism is not a cultural luxury but a civilizational necessity. Societies that abandon self-criticism soon lose their capacity for renewal and their ability to build the future. Therefore, this issue is not simply another publication; it is an open invitation to dialogue and to reconsider many of the assumptions and concepts that have shaped political and cultural work over the past decades.
We hope that readers will find within these pages material that stimulates their minds, enriches their knowledge, and inspires them to think critically. For we believe that every meaningful understanding begins with an awakened question, and that free thought is the foundation of every project striving for freedom, justice, dignity, and peace.
The third issue of Azadiya Me, published on July 15, continues its mission as a platform for free thought, responsible dialogue, and critical reflection, placing the human being, truth, and the future at the center of its vision.
Azadiya Me
Because freedom begins with thought, and conscious dialogue is the path to the future.
