Embrace silence as the sea embraces its secrets in its depths, and as the night hides the moans of lovers within its darkness; for silence is not always defeat, but a crown rising above the clamor of the world. Nothing is nobler than conversing with yourself, far from voices that echo like drums in an empty space, and nothing is more beautiful than listening to the call of your soul, resonating within an inner calm that only pure spirits can perceive.
Let people pass as shadows pass at sunset; some are a fleeting flash of lightning, others smoke that vanishes with the first breeze. Do not place your heart in the hands of every passerby, for the heart is too precious to be entrusted to faces whose smiles are crafted like masks. Remember that much of what is said weighs less than the wind, and many events are unworthy of burdening the luggage of your life.
As for life, do not carry it as though you were born to serve it. Live it lightly, as a bird crosses its sky, as hair flows freely in the wind without resistance. Do not let it be a chain around your neck, but a garden through which you pass—plucking the fruits you desire and leaving its thorns behind.
Do not squander your emotions; for if the heart gives without awareness, it withers, just as a river withers if it pours itself into the sea until its last drop. Give wisely, love consciously, and weep with dignity. Do not let yourself be an open field for every passing wind, nor barren land where stones are cast without measure. Guard your feelings as the dawn guards the sun’s rising, revealing it only when its time has come.
Do not debase your soul in pleasing others; for satisfaction wrested from your depths is a shackle, and a smile sold at the cost of your sorrow is a betrayal of your inner light. Let yourself be your own balance—do not weigh your life by another’s, nor compare your heart to their measures. Live for yourself first, then grant the world what overflows from you, not the other way around.
Learn that silence is sometimes an answer more eloquent than words, and that withdrawing from a futile debate is loftier than a thousand victories over those who cannot understand you. Greatness is not in raising your voice, but in possessing the ability to listen to the certainty that dwells within.
Be like the mountain: unshaken by storms, untempted by appearances. Be like the palm tree: the more it is struck with stones, the more it yields sweet fruit. Be like the olive tree: enduring through centuries, deep-rooted, steadfast in the storms. And carry within you the serenity of the river, which raises its voice only when it collides with rocks.
Live free as the dawn rises without permission, as the sea washes the shore with its tides, as the wind sweeps over the mountains without consulting anyone. For freedom is not doing whatever you wish before people, but owning your inner peace when the lights fade and the road is empty.
Guard the fire of your heart from turning into ash, and preserve your stillness from being scattered by the world’s noise. For the peace that inhabits your soul is greater than all external wars, and more precious than the victories of others. Remember that the world may steal your time, and people may steal your trust, but no one can take away your silence if you choose it as your refuge, nor your certainty if you make it your homeland.
So walk through life as a wise passerby: smiling at the flowers as you move on, facing the storms without breaking, hearing the noise without being wearied. Be yourself—only yourself, no more and no less—for that is the greatest triumph you can ever achieve in this existence.
